Lawrence Niccum, 84, of Anderson, passed away Friday, February 12, 2010, at Zionsville Meadows, following an extended illness. He was born April 17, 1925, in Anderson, to Kenneth and Myrtle (Cowgill) Niccum, the youngest of four children. Lawrence graduated from Anderson High School in 1943. He worked for Delco Remy the next 32 years as a tool and die maker. In 1948, he married Evelyn Anderson, and together they raised two daughters. After retiring from Delco Remy in 1975, Lawrence and Evelyn spent 27 enjoyable years in Florida, where he worked as a condo handyman, returning to the Fishers area in 2004. His favorite activities included family vacations, crossword puzzles, and enjoying the company of his beloved cats. Survivors include; Wife- Evelyn Niccum of Zionsville; daughters, Betty (Mike) York, Daleville, and Sheila (Dick) Hunnicutt, Fishers; grandson, Ben (Tisch) York, Indianapolis; granddaughters, Amanda (Scott) Apking, Muncie, Lisa (Greg) Parker, Noblesville, and Julie (Nick) Schrader, Carmel; great-granddaughters, Eleanor and Madilyn York, Ashlee Gosser, and Lydia Schrader; great-grandsons, Aaron Gosser, and Adam and Alec Parker; and one brother, James Niccum, Anderson. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at 7 pm Thursday, February 18, 2010 in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria. Interment of cremains will take place in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends may call after 4 pm on Thursday at the Owens Funeral Home. Contributions suggested to the Hamilton County Humane Society through the funeral home.
