ANDERSON, IN-Jerry L. Ward II, 49, died on Thursday, January 4, 2018, in the Howard Community Hospital in Kokomo after being stricken suddenly ill while working on his truck.

Jerry was born on August 26, 1968 in Anderson to Jerry and Judy (Coppock) Ward. He was a graduate of Alexandria-Monroe High School-Class of 1987. He was a Master Mechanic and had worked for Kennedy Tool and Die, Kutche Chevrolet and DeVoe Chevrolet. He was currently employed by Carter Express in Anderson as a commercial truck driver for the past 9 years where he was affectionately known as the “Sexiest Truck Driver.” For several years, Jerry was involved in the Alexandria Little League program coaching both during the regular season and the All-Stars. He was an avid fisherman. He was a people person who was always helping others and always busy with one project or another. Because of his kindness, Jerry has been referred to as a “gentle giant.” Family was most important to Jerry…he loved his family and was loved by his family.

Services honoring Jerry’s life and legacy will take place at 4 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria with Rev. Gary Lovens officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 pm to 8 pm on Monday.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alexandria Youth Baseball League through the funeral home.
