Yorktown, IN - Richard L. Adams, 85, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Community Hospital in Anderson following a brief illness.

He was born on June 17, 1932 in Anderson to Cary and Agnes (Mittendorf) Adams. He was a graduate of Harrison Township High School-Class of 1950. Richard served our country in the United States Army was honorably discharged in 1958. He was a carpenter for several years with Bob Painter Construction in Alexandria. Richard was well known as a skilled auto body man, and owned and operated Dick’s Auto Body from 1972 to 1998. He attended King’s Chapel Church in rural Delaware County. Richard was a member of the Madison County RC Flyers and the Madison County Radio Club. He was an avid bowler.

3 Sons-Dennis (Sharon) Adams-Yorktown, Ronald (Cheryl Adams-Elwood, Charles (Sally) Adams-Fortville

He was preceded in death by his father in 1973, his mother in 2007, his wife-Vivian (Fish) Adams in 1999, his brother-Robert Adams in 2001, Granddaughter-Pamela Ray in 2011, Great-Grandson-Michael Lewis and Daughter-in-law-Tammy Adams

Services honoring Richard’s life and legacy will take place at 3 pm on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 in the Owens Funeral Home, 412 North Harrison Street, Alexandria with Tim Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 pm on Wednesday prior to the services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
