ELLENTON, FL- Former Alexandria resident, John D. Fox, 58, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida. His death was a result of complications of his deteriorating health condition of the past several months.

John was born on October 5, 1959 in Tokyo, Japan to Charles Culten and Barbara (Terhune) Fox. He graduated from Alexandria-Monroe High School-Class of 1978 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ball State University in Muncie. John was an on-air personality for several radio stations in Central Indiana for 32 years. John also worked for Anderson Community Schools for 10 years. He will best be remembered for his support of intermediate and secondary school athletics, and the countless numbers of high school sports events that he had broadcast and officiated. He was a member of the Alexandria Varsity A-Men's Club, the Indiana and Florida Officials Associations, the Indiana State Teacher's Union and he also received a Broadcaster of the Year award. John served on the Alexandria City Council for a term and also attended the Alexandria Church of God while living here. John will be fondly remembered as a "people" person and for his coaching and mentoring dedication to youth sports programs. However his greatest pleasure was in the time he spent with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents and the uncle who raised him, Albert Terhune

Services celebrating John's faith and legacy will take place at 2 pm on Friday, November 17, 2017 in the Alexandria Church of God, 302 N. West Street. Kent Stookey will officiate. Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends may call at the church after 10 am on Friday prior to the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Owens Funeral Home to assist the family with final expenses with envelopes available at the church.
