ALEXANDRIA, IN-Chester M. Ellis I, Alexandria passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at the IU Health-Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis following a brief illness.

He was born on September 8, 1923 in Frankton to Robert and Callie (Funk) Ellis and he attended Frankton schools. Chet retired from Fisher-Body in Marion in 1986 after 42 years. He also farmed. Chet served with the United States Army in World War II in the 44th Division. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior in Alexandria. He enjoyed bowling, traveling and was skilled in making stained glass artifacts that he loved to give away to family and friends.

Brothers-in-law-Jim (Nancy) Wehsollek, Richard Thompson all of Alexandria

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife-Anna Mae (Wehsollek) Ellis in 2013, a son-Herb Ellis in 2004, siblings-Catherine Jackson, Joe Ellis, John Ellis, Lillian Farr, Carl Ellis, David Ellis and Dollie Dial

Services honoring Chet's life and legacy will take place at 11 am on Monday, April 24, 2017 in the Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior, 309 West Washington Street, Alexandria with Pastor Kal Rissman officiating. Interment with military honors will take place at Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends may call at the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria on Sunday from 4 pm to 8 pm or after 10 am on Monday at the church prior to the services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Lutheran Church of Our Blessed Savior through the funeral home.
