ALEXANDRIA, Margie J. Humphrey, 86, Alexandria passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis following a brief illness.

Margie was born in Alexandria on January 10, 1931 to Merle and Luey Alice (Thomas) Johnson. She had lived in Alexandria all of her lifetime until moving to Greentree Assisted Living at Fort Benjamin Harrison, where she received the best of care and made a whole new circle of friends. She was a graduate of Alexandria High School-Class of 1949 and received an Associate Business degree from Muncie Business College. Margie retired from Delco-Remy, formerly of Anderson, after 30 years of employment. She was a long time and active member of the Alexandria First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed sewing and was an accomplished seamstress. However, Margie's greatest attribute was her devotion to the care and nurturing of her family.

2 Daughters-Sharon (Stan) Hirsch-Indianapolis, Neva Logan-Sharpsburg, Georgia
4 Grandchildren-Cara Johnson-Hirsch (Laview Wen)-Indianapolis, Megan Logan, Benjamin Logan and Haley Logan all of Atlanta
2 Great-Grandchildren- Savi Johnson-Hirsch and Levi Johnson-Hirsch
Many nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband-Venus "Benny" Humphrey in 1981, a granddaughter-Kathryn "Katie" Jill Johnson in 1996 and 8 siblings

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at 2 pm on Saturday, February 25, 2017 in the Owens Funeral Home in Alexandria with Dr. Joyce Thornton officiating. Private inurnment of cremains will take place in Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Friends are invited to call on the family after 12 noon prior to the services.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alexandria Food Pantry through the funeral home.
